Sometimes you find yourself at rock bottom. Sometimes it’s a progressive trip to the bottom and one thing seems to lead to another. Sometimes it seems like a spontaneous free fall—one minute you are at the top and the next you are at the bottom. Regardless of the progression or how it happens, you find yourself at the bottom.
Once you are there—you have decisions to make. Where are you going to turn? What are you going to do? Are you going to turn to God? Are you going to hold onto your faith with dear life? Are you going to grab onto him and fight? Or are you going to lay there and do nothing.
I’m not typically one that bounces back immediately. I’ll let myself lay there and feel and experience my emotions for a few days, but after that, it’s time to get back on my feet and fight. To fight for my wholeness, to fight for my healing, to fight for my future.
You know who has always met me in those moments? God. Every single time. When you feel like you have lost everything else and feel like you have been stripped of everything—you still have God. He is the ultimate healer of all things—of our hearts, of our minds, and of our physical ailments. He gives us rest: Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” He gives us hope for the future: 2 Corinthians 4:18”So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” He gives us strength: Isaiah 41:10 “ So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” He gives us everything we need, he equips us, and he’s with us every step of the way.
Something I just heard on the radio is beyond perfect. Someone on there said God says “I don’t want you to live as a walking wound. I want a whole healed woman.” Y’all that is so true. He wants to heal our broken hearts, forgive us for our sins, and redeem us. Our God is able!
God is able by Hillsong echoes this sentiment perfectly:
God is with us
He will go before
He will never leave us
He will never leave us
God is for us
He has open arms
He will never fail us
He will never fail us.
When we have nothing else, we have God. He’s always there, always waiting on us to come to him, always willing to help us back on our feet, always waiting to heal us. We just must seek him. Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”
Our God is able.
