Thrown into the Flames

Sometimes it feels like you are thrown or about to be thrown into the flames out of absolutely nowhere. Whether it’s unexpected news, unexpected situations, unexpected hardships, etc. You say to yourself: I never saw that coming or where did this come from?

Those questions often lead to fear, anxiety, and feelings of uncertainty. Sometimes we allow ourselves to get so overwhelmed by these emotions that we lose sight over who is guiding our lives and lighting the path for our feet. In these moments where we lose him, he doesn’t lose us. When we stop being so blinded by our emotions, we can see that he has been there the whole time and has even prepared us for whatever we are about to face.

He sends signs and sometimes it’s in the form of scripture. Today I happened to out of nowhere see the verse Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

He sends you the people you need to help you endure and overcome. How do you know it is someone he has sent? Well an obvious sign for sure is when you end up becoming friends with someone you never planned on being friends with. He sends those people to support you, love you, and help carry your burdens as Galatians 6:2 says: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Often those friends end up being some of the best friends you’ve ever had.

He gives you the strength to endure. Phillippians 4:13: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

He upholds us even when we can’t hold ourselves up. Psalm 73:26: “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

When you stop running and stop letting your thoughts be consumed by fear and anxiety, you receive perspective and clarity and see all the ways he has been working in your favor. He has been preparing you and sending you what you need for whatever you are about to face or are facing and you just have to open your eyes and see it. There is nothing we can’t face or handle when we give it to God and trust in his plan.

Walk by faith, not by fear. Luke 1:37: For nothing will be impossible with God.
