MEH Days

Today was a “meh” day. Per dictionary.com: uninspiring and unexceptional. Truth is, I don’t usually blog on meh days because I don’t feel passionate and the words typically don’t flow and I don’t like to force blog posts so I usually only blog when I feel inspired.

Well meh days are part of life and I just wanted to let y’all know that I’m not immune to them either. Nothing terrible happened today, work was fine, everything else went fine…I just felt “meh” and uninspired.

The important thing is that you don’t let “meh” days last and let them occur multiple days in a row. Believe me I’ve let it happen before and then you find that multiple meh days turned into a funk. You’ve got to break the cycle, find something to inspire you/encourage you and get you back on track.

Sometimes the way to do that is to admit to someone that you are having a meh day. Honestly, by talking to other people we often find what is at the root of our “mehness” (I like occasionally making up words if you haven’t figured that out). By getting to the root, we can address it and fix it.

Sometimes it spontaneously resolves on its own. We aren’t obligated to feel like sunshine and rainbows every day or every second of our lives. Meh days can also make us appreciate the really good days. Just because we are having a meh day, doesn’t mean we are unhappy. Sometimes we are just tired, preoccupied, or just trying to keep our heads above water. Life isn’t always easy.

Whatever it is, just try and make sure it doesn’t last. And if you find it’s lasting, reach out to someone and ask for their help and guidance. Asking for help does not make you weak.
