This song has been my mantra lately. Every time I have been faced with something difficult, this song has popped into my head.
My husband and I closed on our house last week and we have had lots of woes already as new homeowners….”the joys of being a homeowner” as they say. When it rains it pours, and sometimes when it pours, it pours 6+ gallons of water on your tile in your new house. Besides the seller not moving out all of his belongings, we had some major issues with our washer. The washer we moved into the house was from my husband’s parents and they thought it was in working condition. Long story short, it was broken and the first night we had it, it moved over a foot away from the wall and chipped a piece off of our granite…not exactly how we wanted to start our life in our new home.
The second day in our new home, we went out shopping for a new washer and we ended up finding one that was an out of the box “floor unit” that they said was in perfect working condition and had just been a return. Our friends helped us pick up the washer, bring it home, take the old one out of the house, bring the new one in the house, and install the new one. Everything went mostly fine with the installation that is until we started a cycle; about 1 minute into the cycle 6+ gallons of water comes rushing out the base of the machine. No we did not hook it up incorrectly–turns out it had a broken drum. Long story short we loaded up the “new” washer and carted it directly back to the store. The second go around, we got a brand new washer that ended up working perfectly. This whole situation ended up wasting most of our day but we were so thankful for our friends that let us use their truck and helped us pick up the first washer, install the first washer, return the first washer, pick up second washer, and install the second washer. While the situation was definitely frustrating, I kept this song in the back of my mind and kept mentally singing it to myself “it may look like I’m surrounded, but I’m surrounded by you.” Instead of getting mad, I actually had a sense of calm rush over me and just focused on dealing with the situation. Thats what happens when you trust God with your woes and trust that God is there with you; you feel a sense of peace and feel like you can handle whatever battle you are currently fighting.
Just remember that God is always with you and is in control. You will not face anything that you cannot handle even though it may feel that way at the time and you will come out on the other side even stronger.
